LET'S TALK ABOUT 3D SCANNING |
GrowShapes CEO Geoffrey Doyle presents "3D Printing - Where Materials & Structures Collide" at the S.F. Bay Area Chapter of the Applied Computing Machinery (ACM) association.
Geoffrey will begin with a brief history of 3D printing, the various types of technologies that exist, where we are today, and what lies ahead. More importantly, he will discuss how the development of new structures (or combining existing structures in new ways) enables the development of new 3D printing materials. Geoffrey will also illustrate how new structures and 3D printing technologies will dramatically impact the way prototypes and products are manufactured. The seminar will also highlight the broad range of industries which are being impacted such as engineering, manufacturing, medical, robotics, automotive, jewelry and art, just to name a few. GrowShapes will also be demonstrating netfabb's software for 3D printing, the DAVID Vision 3D Structured Light Scanner (SLS), desktop 3D printing on the Afinia, as well as showing printed models from the industrial Mcor True Color 3D paper printer. The presentation will be held at the HP Executive Briefing Center in Palo Alto from 6:30-9:00 pm. For more information, click here.

An Incredibly Low-Cost Structured Light 3D Scanner for Everyone
As an Authorized Reseller for DAVID Vision, we are proud to present the new DAVID SLS-2! The brand new DAVID SLS-2 3D Structured Light Scanner was presented at EuroMold and is available for purchase now. The SLS-2 is the follow on to the well-known SLS-1. Many ideas and improvements have found their way into the new SLS-2. It comes with a camera slider which makes it very easy to adjust the scanner to a new object size. No more screws, no more trying to aim the camera in the right direction. You just have to adjust focus and move the camera slider until the object is in view. As simple as can be -- no screwdriver required. Nevertheless, that allows the SLS-2 the same flexibility and scalability. It can be used to scan smallest objects, like coins or fingerprints, or large objects up to 500mm (or larger if you scan 500mm patches). All improvements in detail:
This price-performance ratio is still unrivalled -- you won't find any other complete 3D Structured Light scanner including software, camera, projector, calibration panels etc. which is so flexible and gives such great results! On April 12th, our CEO, Geoffrey Doyle, gave a talk on "How 3D Printing Impacts Our Lives and Our Children's" at the Cupertino Library Foundation. The audience was packed and Geoffrey's talk was well received with lots of audience interaction. The video of his talk is now available online here.
GrowShapes also demonstrated 3D printing and 3D scanning. Fortunately, given the large number of attendees, we had invited some of our business colleagues along to also provide 3D printing demos:
As usual, the demos were extremely popular and educational. The attendees gave us rave reviews. Our thanks to the Cupertino Library Foundation for organizing such a great event! |
