LET'S TALK ABOUT 3D SCANNING |
In line with America's emphasis on STEM workforce development, GrowShapes is launching the new 3D Printing for Education Meetup group this evening from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm at Cogswell College in Sunnyvale.
Geoffrey Doyle, GrowShapes CEO, says that "Education is vital for 3D Printing technology to delivery the promise many believe it has to offer. Many of the businesses that will define 3D Printing and break through the existing boundaries do not exist yet. Many of the people who will develop these new businesses will first interact with 3D printing technologies in libraries, schools and universities." For the inaugural meeting, there will be both a 3D Printing Makerspace, so that educators can interact with this emerging technology, as well as a workshop on the Career Pathways Trust grant. Speakers will include:
The attendees will then be separated into small groups to experience the hour-long 3D Printing Makerspace, which includes a 3D printing station, a file fixing station, and a 3D scanning station. As a fun gift to attendees, they will have the option of being scanned in 3D for printing as a white 3D bust, which will be printed back at GrowShapes office on the high-end Mcor IRIS, which is a True Color paper 3D printer. This event is free of charge and includes refreshments.
